Planning a Family Farm Day in Al Ain: What to Expect

A day on a working farm gives children a break from screens and a close look at where food comes from. Here is what you can do at Al Ain Aquaponic Farm, how booking works, and what to pack for an easy, happy visit.

Why a farm day works for families

A farm visit mixes fresh air, animals and hands-on activities in one outing, so there is something for every age. At Al Ain Aquaponic Farm, founded in 2017 in the Umm Ghafa area of Al Ain, you can meet the animals, see fish and plants growing together in our aquaponic system, and take home produce and honey from the farm shop.

The Family Day Trip is designed for groups of 2 to 10 people, so it suits a single family or a few families visiting together.

What you can do on the day

Every activity is optional. You choose which ones to add and how many people take part in each.

  • Guided farm tour: an educational walk around the farm and its production areas, including the aquaponic system where fish and plants share the same water.
  • Animal feeding: the farm is home to goats, sheep, ostriches and hens, and children can help at feeding time.
  • Fishing: a guided fishing session in a calm farm setting.
  • Planting experience: a hands-on planting activity made for both children and adults.
  • Bonfire setup: an outdoor bonfire for groups who want to relax together.

New to aquaponics? Read What Is Aquaponics? How Fish and Plants Grow Together before you go, and the tour will make even more sense to the children.
